Happy New Year! What’s the first thing you did this morning? (and this year!)

In a totally uncharacteristic move, I started 2018 with Day One of 30 Days of Yoga With Adriene. And it was my first day of yoga ever. (Adriene has the whole 30 day program on YouTube if you want to check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oBu-pQG6sTY)

It was a totally doable 30-minute workout. Honestly, it was a 60-minute workout for me because I had to spend 30 minutes cleaning the basement floor before I could even think about lying down on it. hahaha!

In the middle of my first yoga session ever, I realized my mat and hands and yoga pants and face were covered in fine white sand. I mean OF COURSE THEY WERE. The only thing I’ve ever used my yoga mat for is lounging at the beach. But then I did it. I did 30 minutes of yoga! I’m not going to act like it wasn’t a big thing for me because it was.

Over the past few years, I’ve become a keyboard jockey, spending most of my life sitting on my rump. I’m also about to turn 50, so this is a shift in my mindset. My first 30 minutes were… NICE and enjoyable. They were also challenging, clumsy and hilarious.

I DEFINITELY have all the grace of a baby panda! (At least this guy got a good laugh in the basement this morning!)
